The Sun will shift into 0° Cancer on the 20th June at approx 10:45 pm GMT, signifying the start of Cancer Season. Occurring on this very day will also be a New Moon in Cancer, an annular Solar Eclipse and the Summer Solstice. Under the magnitude of these energies combined, the beginning of Cancer season is not the ideal time to start new projects. This time would be better spent reflecting and focusing our attention towards the home and our deeper emotions.
Cancer’s energies are greatly healing and spark an inner need to self-protect. Our desires to explore the shadows of ourselves and the root of our being is deepened during this period. The Sun transiting Cancer influences us to put ourselves first. However, this is often done in a subtle manner than can easily go unseen. We’re retreating into our internal selves, exploring our comfort zone, understanding our emotions and using this heightened understanding of self to evolve, expand and advance from our shells with greater confidence and objectivity.
CANCER STELLIUM
22nd June, Sun, Moon and Mercury
On 22nd June, we’ll be under the intense and illuminating energy of a Cancer Stellium with the Sun at 1°46’, the Moon at 19°51′ and Mercury at 14°. The Moon and Mercury are within 5.8° of each other, creating a conjunction, and the Moon is in a strong trine with Mercury within 1.2°. These energies are quite similar in the sense that they collectively increase our awareness and heighten our sensitivity. They’re harmonic and will work well together to soothe our souls on this day.
NEPTUNE GOES RETROGRADE
23rd June at 20°58′ Pisces
Neptune will station retrograde on 23rd June at 5:32 am GMT at 20°58′ Pisces and will end on 28th November at 18°10. With Neptune being an outer planet, her retrograde won’t be as impactful as personal planet retrogrades. Despite this, the upcoming five months of Neptune’s retrograde will be a reality check. Our rose-tinted glasses and hazy visions will be stripped away, revealing a bare, and very harsh reality. All that we have tried to sweep under the carpet or tried to sugar coat will be revealed. But don’t see this as a bad thing! The theme of this transit is owning our truth and loving and respecting ourselves enough to address our triggers, pain and problems with an open heart.
VENUS GOES DIRECT
25th June at 5°20′ Gemini
Venus will be in her retroshade period until 28th July when she retuns to her starting point at 21°50′ Gemini. Now that her retrograde is over, surrounding energies will return to it’s playfulness and lightheartedness. We will be reinvigorated with a greater sense of clarity that will aid us in moving forwards with an open and accepting heart, and a plan to incorporate pleasures into our daily routine. We’ll be tasked with creating a new ‘normal’ moving forwards.
MARS ENTERS ARIES
28th June
Mars will return home at 0°00’ aries on 28th june (2:45 GMT) causing a shift in our motivation. We’re pushing forwards against all opposing forces with vigour and perhaps aggression. Mars will transit Aries for a prolonged six months due to his retrograde occurring on 9th September at 28°09′ Aries. Under his influence, we will be particularly impatient with a keen and passionate focus. Our visions will turn into plans and our plans into actions.
MARS SEXTILE SATURN
29th June within 0.4°
Mars will Sextile Saturn on 29th June with both planets at 0° of their domicile positioning and there for functioning in their rawest, truest forms. Both planets are pushing each other to reach their fullest portals. This aspect will grant us illuminating opportunities as our discipline and endurance works together with our passion and determination. This is a great formula for success and growth.
LUNAR ECLIPSE
5th July at 13°37’ Capricorn
On July 5th at approximately 5:30am GMT we’ll experience a Full ‘Buck’ Moon Lunar Eclipse at 13°37’ Capricorn. This will be a deeply impactful celestial event occurring on the Cancer-Capricorn axis at the excitable adventurous and self-involved 13°. We should utilising the luminous transiting energies to improve ourselves and re-align with our purpose, responsibilities and ambitions.
MERCURY SQUARE MARS
8th July within 0.8°
Our self perceptions will be challenged under the square between Mars and Mercury (who will be in retrograde). Mars in Aries is sharp, self interested and won’t allow any space for obtuseness, dishonesty or attacks towards our egos. This is a tense aspect as Mars challenges Mercury who will be highly critical, emotional and unrealistic with its expectations. We’ll be putting an immense amount of pressure on ourselves which will manifest as defensiveness when we’re faced with reality.
CHIRON GOES RETROGRADE
11th July within at 9°26’ Aries
What will perhaps be the most transformative retrograde of the year will occur on 11th July when Chiron stations retrograde at 9°26’ Aries. His retrograde will last until December 15th, where he will station direct at 4°56’ Aries. This will not be an easy transit. There will be a painful resurfacing and reopening of old wounds and revelations of toxic patterns. But this isn’t something to be fearful of. If you’ve already been actively using this years retrogrades to take conscious steps forth on your healing journey, Chiron’s retrograde won’t be as much of an abrupt change in reality for you.
MERCURY GOES DIRECT
11th July at 14°45’ Cancer
Coming out of Mercury’s retrograde, our minds and communication will be a lot clearer and back on track. The most important thing we can do is take ownership of the things we do and the mistakes that we make. We no longer have a backwards transiting and disruptive planet to blame for what’s going wrong in our lives. We can no longer blame lack of awareness as we had a month to conduct deep, internal reflection of the self. What new foundations and boundaries do you need to set for yourself?
SUN OPPOSITION PLUTO
15th July Sun in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn
When the Cancerian Sun forms an opposition with Pluto in Capricorn, we will embrace both the light and shadows as patterns of our self-destructive behaviours are put in the spotlight. We will be urged under this transit to work with our shadow selves in order to heal and renew our self awareness. Depending on how we choose to utilise these energies, this transit could either manifest as an empowering moment of self healing or an increase in internal conflicts and external crises. The power is in your hands.
NEW MOON IN CANCER
20th July opposing Saturn
On 20th July we will experience the second New Moon in Cancer of the year. Despite this one not being a Solar Eclipse like the last, this New Moon will still be an influential event. The Cancerian New Moon will be in opposition to transiting Saturn in Capricorn, reflecting restrictions, emotional hardships and limitations. New Moon’s typically offer the opportunity for a fresh start. However, this one will not be a second chance but rather a struggle to express ourselves which may manifest as frustrations, loss of patience or maybe a boost in determination. You decide!
